We’re Kellie and Daniel. We first started visiting Hakuba in 2020 and quickly found ourselves spending more and more time here. We love the snow and enjoy the slopes, of course—but what drew us in even more was the quiet after fresh snow, the mountain air, and the natural tranquility this valley offers.

In 2023 we found a property near Goryu and began shaping it into a unique thoughtful luxury getaway through our company KD Mountain. We’ve poured a lot of care into the design and details so the home feels warm, calm, and deeply connected to its surroundings.

During the green season we use the house sometimes as our family base with our little dog, Tawashi, and our newborn son, Auggie. Summer in Hakuba is our reset: hiking forest trails, a gentle horseback ride now and then, and long, simple BBQs with friends. It’s the perfect escape from the concrete rush of Tokyo.

In winter we happily share our place with fellow mountain lovers. If you come for the snow, we hope you’ll also discover what we did—the slower rhythm of the village, the hush of the pines, and the sense of space that makes Hakuba special.

We fell in love with this region about five years ago and spent a long time searching for the right spot. Now that we’ve found it, we’re excited to welcome guests who value nature, good design, and unhurried time together.
